St Teresa of Ávila

The worldwide church remembers Teresa of Ávila (1515-1582) on Wednesday 15th October. Some quotes of hers:

Let nothing disturb you, nothing frighten you, all things are passing, God is unchanging. Patience gains all; nothing is lacking to those who have God: God alone is sufficient.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours, 

   no hands but yours, 

   no feet but yours,

Yours are the eyes through which to look out Christ's 

   compassion to the world,

Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good;

Yours are the hands with which he is to bless men now.

God save us from gloomy saints!

Collect:

Almighty God,

you have made us for yourself,

and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you:

pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself,

and so bring us at last to your heavenly city

where we shall see you face to face;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,
